• Ultra-fast backup: Due to the exclusive association of three optimization levels: Transferred data compression; block mode, which makes it possible to reduce the backing up of only the modified portions of a file between two successive versions (ideal for data bases and emails); non-duplication transfer, which makes it possible to only transfer data that were not already backed up among all data stored by RapidoBackup (ideal for multi-station backup).
  • Restoring: the user can restore either all the files in a backup set or select documents manually (with the mouse or the keyboard, using the remote view mode). The documents restored by using a manual selection can be redirected to a location that is different from the original location.
  • Synchronization: to automate backup and restore tasks, the user can also synchronize the documents: Files which have been modified or created locally are copied to the remote storage area, while out-of-date documents are replaced by the latest version available at the remote location. This is performed at the backup operation level.
  • True double encryption: Data are always protected during their transfer by SSL encapsulation (banking standard). Moreover, the user can choose to code his data before transferring (in 3-DES-EDE with 128-bit irreversible key). All that is needed is to define an encryption phrase (locally at the user station) and to select the files or documents that will need to be encrypted. Then, data will remain encrypted at all steps of the backup, storage and restoration, without the possibility of recovery unless the initial encryption phrase is available. It should be noted that local encryption before transferring is compatible with the non-duplication at transfer time but the impact is reduced.
  • Versioning control: the user can archive several versions (of a given file or backed-up document) on remote storage sites; customizable with up to 100 different versions available on-line.
  • Backup set scheduling: for each backup set the user can plan a backup, a restore or synchronization at regular intervals, by hour, day, week or by month.
  • Exclusion filters based on file names or extensions.
  • Moving or renaming: the user can rename or move files and documents on a remote storage area from one directory to another, thus facilitating sharing data among several work stations.
  • Sharing data among collaborators.
  • Event logs and Alerts via Email: in case of a scheduled backup that failed to start or was not completed.
  • Unicode software: full support for international character sets.
  • Operating systems supported on the client’s work station: Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista. With the option of backing up to other Operating Systems (Mac, Linux, UNIX) through a network.
  • The application is available in several languages: English, French and Spanish (Portuguese, German, Italian, and Dutch are to be added soon).
