General Features

The RapidoBackup system operates thanks to the combination of client and server software that enables one or several versions of pre-selected data to be transferred in a manner that is secure (encryption), optimized (compression, incremental, block mode), and automated according to a pre-defined schedule.

The RapidoBackup system (formerly SauvegardeOnline) is the result of five years of Research and Development by our technical team, along with support from partners such as ANVAR and the Région IDF (Ile de France Region). We have complete control over our technology, which enables us to continuously adapt it to our customers’ needs:

  • Secure (SSLv3) and optimized (incremental backup + compression + block mode) transfer of the data to be backed up and restored.
  • Option of defining an encryption sentence that will ensure total confidentiality before any processing occurs (3-DES-EDE, 128-bit irreversible encryption key).
  • Persistent multiple-selection of the boundaries of the data to be backed up and protected.
  • Option of saving several versions of a file (up to 100 consecutive versions per file).

SSLv3 is the same protocol that financial establishments use to transfer payment information. Block Mode is a technology that detects modifications within a given file from one successive version to another, thus considerably reducing the amount of time that it takes to back up the new version.

Client Software - Version 2.1

The client software is necessary for collecting the data to be backed up from the workstations. The data is then transferred in an optimized and secure manner to the server where it will be stored.

  • Compatible with Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4, 2000, XP and Server 2003 (Intel and AMD systems).
  • It is ergonomic and easy-to-use, thanks to:
    • Several operating modes: Interactive, assisted or automated
    • A launch screen, illustrated instructions for use, and assistants.
  • Exclusion filters based on the filenames.
  • Automatic backup scheduling:
    • Parameterization of the backups and their frequency (each hour, each day, each week, each month),
    • Unlimited number of consecutive and simultaneous operations,
    • Open or closed session function,
    • Multi-user compatible, with optional NT service mode,
    • Option of planning restorations and synchronizations (multi-site use).
  • History of planned operation results, and confirmation of a successful backup (or alert of a problem, when necessary).
  • Available in French and in English (new!).
  • Supports international character sets (new!).

Server Software - Version 2.0

The server software centralizes and secures the data to be backed up that was previously collected by the client software. It is not necessary to install the server software to use the Rapidobackup.com service. The purpose of the RapidoBackup.com service is to provide access to the servers that we use within our infrastructure where the data backed up by our customers is hosted.

  • Supports customers with versions 2.0 and 2.1
  • Compatible with any certified Java 1.4 platform or higher such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc.
  • Compatible with databases such as Microsoft SQL Server 2000, IBM DB/2, Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Supports international character sets
  • Storage of hard drive or network data.
  • Catalog storage in a database.
  • Immediate availability of data to be restored. (For example, no time is lost re-installing a tape.)
